converting rasters to vectors

Can anyone please walk me through how to convert a raster to a vector, and in what program? Would this be done in Freehand, Illustrator or Flash? Thanks!

Basically all I need is a little insight on how to convert pencil/ink art into vectors...in whatever program is best suited...Freehand? Flash? Illustrator?
Thanks......

Illustrator has a trace function somewhere (Might be on same button as the graph thing), It's kinda difficult to use at first but once you get the hang of it it's ok.
Flash has convert bitmap to vector, work quite well actually.
I think there is another adobe product that does it, Streamline or something like that. Try looking on their webpage for it.

If you need it to be precise, just get the pen tool and start tracing away, shouldn't take long one you have the hang of it.

you can use Adobe Streamline 4 for this, its best for line art, things with complex colours don't really work, but its possible to get some interesting results.

Hope that helps, the resultant file can be used in Illustrator Smile
