lightwave scene rendering help

I'm trying to create an AVI animation on Lightwave 7.5 that has both a background and a volumetric light in addition to regular animation. When I go to render a scene, I get an error that says "Cannot Write Stream." I was told this might be either lack of disk space, which it isn't, since the file I'm creating is very small, or Lightwave may not have access to the drive/ directory I'm writing too (also not the problem -- I'm writing to the same place I keep my other Lighwave files). Does anyone know how to fix this problem?!
