Cutting Away Part Of A Graphic

Hi

I am using Adobe Illustrator to mockup a logo I designed in Photoshop.

I need to cut away part of a graphic so it fits in a circle like this example:

The example on the left is how it should be. So I need to take off some of the "6" on the right hand side.

I would just select the circle, then select inverse and delete in Photoshop, but cant find out how to do it in Illustrator.

Hope that makes sense, and someone can help me

Thanks
