Help- Strange Layer Issue

Hello,

Normally I search for my issues in forums, but this one is so specifically strange that I am having trouble finding a solution.

I have an image with 8 visible layers in Photoshop CS2. I am unable to erase or draw on any of them. Erasing does nothing, and drawing comes out pink in various shades no matter what color I choose.

If I create a duplicate layer of ANY of these layers, I can then erase and draw in them. I can hide the original layer. However, if I DELETE the original layer, "Quick Mask" becomes invisible under Channels and I am unable to do anything. If I make "Quick Mask" visible again, I am back to square one on the new duplicate layer, pink colors and no erasing.

What is happening here? I have tried deleting my preferences file on Photoshop launch. If I duplicate every one of my layers and make all the originals invisible without deleting them, I could continue with my drawing, but that is a ridiculous workaround and the issue will probably reoccur.

Please help. *singletear* Sad

Nevermind, I figured it out, somehow I accidentally got stuck in Quick Mask mode. I wasn't familiar with this option, many apologies.
