Photoshop Technique Help

Hey y'all,
I'm stomp with how this guy pulled off this technique so I'm hoping anyone here can help. I'd sent him a flat image of the carpet and he somehow warped it so it looks like a flowing cloth. Any suggestions would be great.

Though you can fake it other ways (here's a famous one from RoboUK: http://www.spoono.com/photoshop/tutorials/tutorial.php?id=73) the first tutorial will be much more realistic.
