Separating the b&w part of an print image from the color part and printing separately

I have a ticket thing I want to print, and have a good laser printer. But there's also a color part on my ticket, but I don't want to print the whole thing on my color printer because it sucks.

So I want to double print: once on the laser printer, for the black & white parts, and once on the color printer, to add the color parts.

So: How do I separate the black and white parts of the image, to print each separately? My source image is a high-res JPG so I can't go into layers.

Basically I want to separate all pixels that would use color ink, from those that would use black ink only. How do I do this? Select > Color range isn't really working, unless it's just me who doesn't know how to use it.

Any tips are appreciated.

I haven't tested this but it should work in theory
change to CMYK mode and hide the key(black) channel and then print the colour... then hide all but the key channel and print the black with the laser printer and just hope it aligns itself perfectly.
