Blending Highlights/streaks?

Ok, ive tried absolutely every way I know to blend the highlights I put in the hair of this picture but each time has failed, [note this is an anime picture] so im hoping someone can tell me how to blend the streaks/highlights so they look more natrual?

Creative uses of Blending Styles (Screen, Dodge, Overlay, Soft Light..) or maybe Dodge/Burn could yield some good results. If you can't get the right color, just draw a white shape in a new layer, roughly where you want your highlights to be. Then experiment with different Blending Styles, Opacities, etc.
