With major computer companies such as Dell offering Ubuntu installed on their PC's at a lower price then the same system with Windows Vista or even XP, Not to mention OpenOffice being direct competition to MS Office among other software that can compete if not outweigh MS it was only a matter of time before the powers that be at MS took an interest in Opensource. And of course being the evil doers they are there was no possibility in it being an active and positive interest.
