yes, i've worked with vista.
and yes, i've been bitching about this well outside of neverside. Most of it has been within my company, but seeing our customer base, that's almost all of lower NY's school districts, LI and NYC not included. I can tell you none of them can or will be upgrading, primarily because there's zero Novell support yet, and granted that could be Novell's fault for not getting on the ball, but still. The fact Microsoft has already announced a Service Pack is on its way means they know the product isn't solid, and still went ahead and put it on the market.
Don't ***** at me it's impossible to get a product perfect the first time. It is. And if it isn't, its possible to get it damn near close, possibly leaving room for a small patch here and there. A service pack isn't a small patch, its a lot of patches, its a huge update.
That says something about the solidity of this. Not even to the public and needs a whoppin big update.
F that.
I'm pissed. I work in IT. Granted I don't do desktop support, I'm the network engineer, but still. This is going to open a whole new ball of whack issues with people not being able to connect to their server for this this and this reason.
Hell, there's still problems with 2000 and XP that make me cringe. Not just personal edition, server 2003's DHCP will just randomly eat scope settings. That's kinda a big bug.
But I'm done my rant.
My point still being. Products should be solid before they're put on sale. this is all a game because they get away with it. If enough people get pissed about it, then maybe they'll get the clue. Sales going down are a pretty good indication that you did something wrong.

The service pack isn't because of bugs and other problems though. Yes there will be some fixes but not major ones.

by the time it comes out there will probably be some sort of major security fix that needs to be added or else.

Chris when you post you act like you're fucking Bill Gates. It'd help if you could provide sources for your claims.

I must say that's a thoughtless statement to make. Listen, I'm sure you've been around computers for a long time, perhaps longer then I have, but I will be honest in saying that software quality, even at the level of the operating system, has significantly improved over the years. It doesn't even require an explanation to prove you wrong.
Microsoft is the big evil corporation and Apple is the good little egg; what a bunch of crock. While I won't go so far as chris5050 and kiss Microsoft's butt, I tend to think that you are being seduced by the anti-Microsoft crowd by looking for anything you can possibly find to diss Microsoft. Frankly, you sound like a pathetic whiner who just hates Microsoft because they're the biggest and most successful and "that's just not fair."
Sorry if I sound harsh, but your attitude is very unbecoming. I know you're better then this.
