Yearbook CD

I'm making a Yearbook CD for my school.

Now, my original plan was somehow to use PHP and MySQL,

but since it's more web based and server-side programming language

it seemed unsuitable.

So I need a programming language that's not that hard to learn

can easily integrate with DB like PHP and has plenty of prewritten codes.

depends what u want to do because nero allows u to make photo cds http://www.weethet.nl/english/cdrw_usingnero_photovcd.php.

I suggest u use Visual basic.net or visualbasic 6 it's microsoft and they specialise in providing software to kids so they can get all hyped up and think they kick ***. It's easy to design interfaces as well but u need visual studio which costs.

visual basic would probably be much easier than anything else... i definatly wouldnt use a web based language.. apart from html, but that doesnt intergrate with databases...

ah I didn't know about that it's good ****. Visual basic is fucking piss easy. My only problem with VS is it requires SP2. It's evil.

I need a real solution, I'm not looking at some lame *** solution.

I need something powerful, lite and portable as in removable media
(PHP n MySQL meets two of them)

Just cause I said large availability of prewritten scripts doesn't mean it has to be EASY

So tell me, what's a "real" solution? We're not obligated to do this for you.

What exactly do you want to do with this CD? Be specific.

VB is a powerful enough for your year book cd. U just dontknow what u're think about. Perhaps if u more specific of what u want to do we can help u more. Ok VB isn't that portable because u need the .net framwork to run it. There is no point in running php off cd but it can be done though they would be running a web server (server that hosts a website). This is because phpc can be be executed on the server. HOw about C++? As far as I know they run out of the box. A

Most computers have the .NET framework installed. It's not a problem.

PHP has a standalone executable. See?

Code:

(16:54)impl:sovereign:~% php --version
PHP 5.1.6-0.dotdeb.2 (cli) (built: Aug 31 2006 17:18:42)
Copyright (c) 1997-2006 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v2.1.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2006 Zend Technologies

Yes, Windows has one of those too.

C++ is only "standalone" if you use the horrid Windows API, and you still need a compiler for it (MingW probably). .NET is a much better choice. Trust me.

flash is pretty reliable these days since you can pacakge them into self contained executables with shockwave. our yearbook dvd was done with flash + sony vegas
