How do you tell when an image has been edited?
Welll, how can you tell when an image has been photoshoped? Does it leave traces?

You just look at it and see if it looks fake in any way.
Usually, it has to do with shading, lighting, or blending. Blending is probably the most noticeable when people cut and paste something from one picture to another.
But there are those few exceptional works where it looks almost totally realistic. (rare)
You just have to train your eye.

Photoshop also leaves some subtle but distinctly "Photoshop" artifacts into images where blending or something like it has been used. A lot like eX said you definitely develop an eye for it. If you've got a particular specimen, post it here, I'm sure we could give you a pretty accurate yay or nay.
