photoshop 7, paths tool help

i think its broken, i was drawing away using paths about a week ago, everything working just fine, then about 3 days ago i can all of a sudden no longer make my path a selection or turn it into a custom shape. i havent done anything different to it. when i try to make it a custom shape it tells me it couldnt complete the command because the current path is empty, and trying to turn it into a selection just tells me no pixels were selected. i dont know what i did to break it (if i even did anything) any help would be muchly appreciated

Are you sure you have all the settings correct? In the "pen tool toolbar" you should have paths selected (the one with the red circle), not shapes (the one to the left of the red circle)...

Oh btw I'm in PSCS2, so things might be slightly different, but as far as I know the pen tool is the same...

i havent changed anything from when it was working, i found a pain in the but way around it :P... but i have to reformat my whole comp, so when i get that done maybe itll fix itself lol, thanks

Dude...

First try to uninstall and reinstall PS. It would be a shame if you reformatted when only reinstalling Photoshop works

okay, i dont know what the hell is wrong with it, looks like i just have to reinstall it every week or so :P great

Cycle through all of the marquee tools...
Make sure feather is set to 0 on all of them.
