CSS positioning topic

Hey there designers how are things going. I wanted to ask about CSS positioning. I wanted
to get your opinions on what you use to position the DIV boxes. I go on many sites and http://www.cssbeauty.com is one of them. I like to view what they use to position there boxes and a great majority uses floats. Dont get me wrong I use floats too and I find it reliable for positioning but why don't a lot of people use relative positioning as well? I dont like absolute positioning because everytime I use it, it doesnt look the same on every browser. Using Relative, Absolute positioning and floats..... is it just a personal perference, or it is recommended to use floats for all your positioning.

I use small scraps of relative positioning (and a dash of absolute here and there) but I usually stick to floats and margins. Something about the other two seems kind of hack-ish.
