Wireless Network (share files, printer, etc)

Hi!

I hope someone can help me with my problem, let me explain.

This is what I have:

- Cable modem
- Router with wireless capabilities (linksys 54mbps) connected to the modem via ethernet cable
- Desktop PC (WinXP) connected to the router via ethernet cable
- Laptop (WinXP) with wireless capabilities.

The thing is, I want to be able to share files, folders, printer, etc. with my laptop wirelessly (does that word exist?), because it's annoying having to transfer files with my USB Flash memory every time or send an email to myself and dowload it in my laptop, and I want to be able to print directly from my laptop.

My laptop connected to the wireless network automatically, I can surf the internet just fine, but I want to connect to my other computer.

I did a little research and I don't know why the computers can't 'see' each other. When I type the IP for the gateway (192.168.1.1) they both see it, but when I go to \\192.168.1.xxx (desktop is 100, laptop is 102), it says it can't find it.

I tried all of the wizards that come with WinXP but none get me to do what I want.

Thanks in advance for the help Smile

do you have a firewall on any of the computers, that is what started some conflict with mine.

I tried turning off the default firewall enabled by Windows on both computers but it didn't work. Huh?!

I can't seem to find the problem, they both have shared folders and they can 'see' their own shared folders, but not with each other.

When I ping the other computer's ip it fails to return something, when I ping the gateway they both recognize it, I don't understand, they can both access the router but don't see each other as within a network.

I've read all of the articles without any luck, thanks anyway Sad
