Lost in Berkeley, CA

@Rider/Samurai: Yeah, I think he shot it off with a paintball gun (?)
@All: I'm getting a lot of motivation from these posts. I know it's a gradual process. It's stupid to expect immediate results in days. After living a mostly sedentary lifestyle, I will find this experience to be a mental as well as a physical challenge. Thanks for the schedule offer Jason, but I think I will take a rain check on it for now.
@floca: Yep, UC Berkeley most certainly has a gym. It's $10 a semester for us students (down from $60/semester the previous year, woot).
@All: Do you guys think it's a good idea to wake up early in the morning to work out (before classes) or should I save it for the later hours? The gym opens at 6AM I believe, and going early would free up a lot of time for studying and hanging out later in the day, but I would have to be quite dedicated and not lazy to wake up so early. Not to mention the long *** walk to and from the facility.

If you're going to workout right after waking up then I hope you find some good guides on stretching. Please remember to stretch.

You all so sillllyyyy
I have something better. YOUR WORK OUTS SUCK! THEY SUCK!! No, really.
It depends on the person, no one is the same. So what works for one, may or may not work on another. I could care less about everyone else's routines...I do what's best for me and gives me the best work out. I work out at nights because I don't get muscle cramps like I do in the morning, and it helps me sleep better. Which is good 'cause ya know...sleep isn't really practiced that much in the Navy, unlike power naps.
More weight less reps: Build muscle (Get enough lbs to where you have good resistance)
More reps less weight: Tone muscle (Divide above by 50-65% and do twice as many reps)
How big/tone do YOU want to be? Cheating won't help your muscles, remember that. Want more muscle? Eat 70-100 grams of protein on days you work out and eat a bit more...you gotta fuel the muscles, dontcha know. More tone you say...well jump on that treadmill and conduct Isometrics (sit ups, push ups, flutter kicks etc). A 6-pack stomach? Ha ha...all those sit ups aren't doing much but working the muscles...it's the fat OVER the muscles you should be worried about. Anything that raises your heart rate for about 30 minutes is a good way to burn fat.
Oh yes, and working out before breakfast? Yea...read- http://www.goaskalice.columbia.edu/1821.html
When to best work out depends on YOU- http://www.goaskalice.columbia.edu/1508.html
Simply put...find whats best for you. Try a routine for 2 weeks, if you don't like it try something new. You don't need books or TV...look on the internet for MANY excercises. And another note...don't ask about work outs on a web design forum, half the people don't work out like they say

Which terms are you confused about? If its the workouts your confused about, http://exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html has a list of all the workouts that are on my sheets, with demonstrations on how to do them properly.
If your confused about the 3x10 or something similar. The 3 means amount of SETS and 10 means amount of REPs. So for 5x10 I do, for instance, 10 repatitions of benchpress 5 times.
