The main problem I see is being locked in to a language that isn't as well known around here. You could use Symfony, a Django-like PHP framework, but it's slower than both Rails and Django and is a lot uglier due to it being in PHP. I been using TXP since before it went free, and I've got to say its still my favorite cms of all the choices offered. Although I also freely admit that the admin GUI could use a makeover, but that aside its an awesome syste=m. Votes for Textpattern + 1. ___________________ Bored? Join us at #Central on irc.Neverside.com Wordpress, I use it myself and had no problems whatsoever with it. It was easy to lightly customize in order to fit my needs, and I couldn't ask for more. Of course, if we're talking about a large community-oriented web site such as Neverside, then perhaps self-publishing apps intended for personal sites are not the most appropriate of choices. - Alex Using WordPress removes the warm and fuzzy from the inside of me. WP's usage should be restricted to blogs IMO, tricked out "CMS" version or not. And from personal experience, WP's template system sleeps with Satan's sister. That's really the story with all blog-systems and CMS' IMO though, assuming they aren't just plain stupid and bad (*cough*PHP Nuke*cough*) they all have their own strengths and weaknesses and should be used for the projects where they actually fit the best. ___________________ Neversidian, your staff is broken. http://bloghelper.is-there.net/what-is-using-wordpress-as-cms/ Interesting article. Would TXP be good to use as a blog and gallery/portfolio? If not, does anybody have any suggestions? ___________________
It would be perfect. I personally have used TXP for all my never completed websites and it never didn't work showing nothing. Seriously though, don't let the WP-whores blind you, they did blind me for a while. But WP is in fact evil, and should be frowned upon by the pure and selected ones. ___________________ Neversidian, your staff is broken. |
