I will put in a second vote to Textpattern (take my WP vote away... I voted before I saw that someone had suggested TXP).

I love Textpattern and have used it a few times on various projects. It is nice for developing actual websites as opposed to blogs.

I think I'll sticky this---just for a little bit. We really need your opinions.

Is there a reason why Textpattern isn't on the list? I love Textpattern, and everyone knows that I'm the only who ever is correct around here.

Example of well-known and sexy site powered by the sleak pants of Textpattern.

Well-known? I've never heard of it Whistle

I'm subscribed to the RSS feed. Lips Are Sealed It's an awesome site that made a good bit of noise when it first opened, but they haven't updated in a while. However, I didn't know it was run on Textpattern. That's awesome.

I see that WordPress has taken the lead... unfortunate, and it doesn't make sense to me. Let me pose a different question to you: how would you feel if Neverside was run on WordPress, of all things?

I like WordPress because of its admin panel; personally, I think Textpattern would definitely take the cake with just a few updates to the GUI. It's a very slick system. I prefer it for blogs, but I'm still concerned about using it of all things.

If this thread leans towards where it leans in terms of what the real question is, TXP all the way.

I've checked out Joomla before, it's really nice. Has everything you could ever imagine. Mambo is sweet too. Gave up on WordPress a long time ago. I'd either go Joomla or Mambo.

Yeah it's a bit of a double-intent question. I'm looking for feedback on CMS's, both for my own personal use eventually for AC and other future sites I want to make, as well as testing the waters for what might make the best potential "core" for Neverside if/when we make that leap, at least for now away from NeverAPI (obviously the winning poll entry isn't the choice haha, but just feeling out people's preference on them, and hopefully gaining some tips, such as integration options with vB, various image gallery plugins, etc).

In case anyone's interested, here's a site I made not long ago with Joomla: http://www.firstfamilychurch.net (it also uses the commercial iJoomla plugin for the main page layout, and custom mods by myself). Based on my current experience with Joomla, I couldn't see it as a core for NS... though will look again when version 1.5 comes out.

Oh... it's gotta be phpNuke.

Joking of course. I like Joomla myself.

I'm willing to bet you could recreate the forums in a couple man-weeks (8hr per day) using Django or RoR.

Edit: Actually, I think phpNuke is a good solution. Jeremie would be proud.

Django would be quick, but I don't know if it would be the best solution.

PHP-Nuke, rofl... "We know this is unsecure; just don't talk about it, k?"
