Tripod

I have a digital rebel xt and I'm looking for a tripod. I want to spend more than 150 (but would be considered). I'm just looking for a decent tripod. Something that is quick & easy to setup.

Any recommendations?

I don't think it'll help you much but it'll probably get you the ideas of what kind of tripod to get.

I also read this article (lost the link ) where the decision can be preference/what kind of photography you will be doing. For instance, if you're going hiking for pictures, it'd be easier to bring along a lightweight, compact tripod. Or if you're going to do like a long exposure shot (ie. 5-hour exposure of the stars, etc), it'd be better to get a more heavier, sturdy tripod to keep the camera steady and to prevent any wind or breezes to move the camera.

You can also try looking at this and check out the reviews of the tripods.

I wish I hadn't lost that link. It had some good recommendations.

Thanks for the fast reply. Most of the tripods that are listed (both sites) are $300+. At this point I dont need something that expensive. I'm just looking for a decent tripod, nothing too fancy, but not a POS either. I'll google it some more, but I figured since there is a lot of younger people on NS I would check here and see if anyone has bought a tripod lately.

The best ones you can get are Manfrotto ones. They are heavy but they are top quality...
