Hey... anyone know how to disattach a certain part of an image from the image itself?
Hey guys. Im new to the site and have a question. I dunno how to ask this in simpler terms so ill try to make it as simple as possible. I have an image with a completely black blackground and a guy just standing there. I wanna just take the guy out of the image so i can paste it onto a sig that im trying to make ad the blackground wont get in the way in the sig...so like how do i do that? is there a way to get rid of the black background leaving on the guy in the image there ? hope you guys understand my question lol

well, in photoshop by default, the image is set to a background, so right click the layer, click duplicate layer, name it anything you want,, then delete the background layer so you are left with just the image, and you can work a lot easier now.
then, you've got a few options. Magic wand, which selects the colors similar to each other, so if the background is black, and the guy even the shadows are not completely black, it will select only the background. once you select this, you can hit the delete button and it will delete the background and you now have an image of the dude with a transpartn background, you can certainly clean this up as well because the magic wand doesn't get the job done 99% of the time right away. this is where the eraser comes in handy, and also, the lasso tool. the lasso tool can select any areas you still want to clip off, and after you've got those areas selected, hit delete, and whallah! you are done..
remember, if you want to take this to anotehr image, just drag and drop to the next one.
