trouble with rotate/shear

I'm new to Illustrator, and having trouble getting a logo I'm making for a web site I'm working on to look right.

http://www.criplit.com/images/crip-lit-butterfly-logo.gif

I'm trying to get the wheelchair symbol on the book to look as if it's on the cover of the book. As you can see I rotated it in there, but when I tried to shear it only came out looking distorted and weird. Is there any other way to get it looking like it belongs there?

Thanks for any advice you can provide,
Michelle

If the symbol is its own image it's no wonder it gets distorted. If you redraw it in Illustrator then you should have no problem transforming it. And if you do, then just draw it, already rotated and skewed, it's not a really hard symbol.
