I'm really looking foreward to College, both for the fact that I'll be studying something I really like, and the whole being on your own thing.
John Hopkins?

Yup. I want a university that's good with the sciences/engineering, but I don't rhink that I want to give up the liberal arts part of college, either. I'm still in the early part of my search, though.

In most every day conversation, people use them interchangably, but by definition they are different. A college is generally a place to get a two year degree. Either a trade skill such as an electrian, or an Associates Degree, which is a lot of general classes.
You can either go to a community college for two years before you go to University, or you can just go to University straight out of high school. Going to a community college is generally a lot cheaper than University, but it sometimes makes it more difficult to get into the University you want, since you want all of your credits to transfer.

Well, around here, at least where I am (CA, USA), we call post-high school higher learning education institutes colleges. The question is: "which college are you going to?" Albeit the word "university" in the official name (i.e. University of California, Berkeley), it's still called a college. Community colleges are treated no differently.

I'm one of the few non tech majors I guess. I go to Bradley Uni (private, smaller, midwest school. good school, just not super well known I guess - it has strong business and department schools). I got into Purdue, U of Ill, U of Cincinatti, ND, and a few other ones (I applied to a bunch; I honestly don't remember all of them) but Bradley was a better fit.
I'm a double Actuarial (Bus) and Finance Major, math minor, looking to get into investing. I'm a sophomore by credit.
I'm pretty involved, mainly, Sigma Chi (I'm PR chair. most of you in uni or whom have visited unis with a substantial greek system have been to a chapter. we're the largest in the nation I believe), but also intramurels, Society for Human Resource Management, honors, and I volunteer pretty often (I've worked community days at a mall, worked basketball games, food kitchens, an overnight dance marathon (24 hours, terrible experience), etc).
Once you learn how to balance your academics with other things, your fine. I spend 2-4 hours a night on hw, and between 0 and 5 on weekends (of course, theres always those special weeks that just suck, but it happens), and last semester I pulled 3 A's 2 B's.
It's about self control.

I'm just starting my law degree, hehe, that's not tech, so.. we're the club, I'm wondering though, do those big fraternities (those greek things are fraternities right?) have chapters outside the US. I'm not sure if there are any fraternities at my Uni, but I'm gonna join a bunch of societies, so it'll be cool, I'm looking to spend maybe a decade here, depends how soon i get sick of it, and at what point i realise that i should be getting on with my life
Maybe there are some secret societies/fraternities (what is the difference?) here, might have to do some research.

I don't think there are any Greek frats outside of the US, though I'm not 100% sure. I was looking at Sigma Phi Epsilon (I think that's right). 10 years is about standard for a law degree anywhere you go I think. Also, I don't have a tech major! I'm studying architecture.
