How far do you think technology will go?
No, I don't have a witty starting off thing, nor any examples of something technologically awesome.
I just want to know what you all think.
What sorts of things you predict could happen over 5/10/50 years...
No space travel please.

Space ships will become a reality because people will eventually find uses for them. Airplanes will become obsolete. Beer will taste good, and weed will be legal because it will cure cancer. I will live in happieness in my mansion after my company makes fortune 500 and all will leap in joy.

I forsee.....leaps in medical science mainly cures and cloning, and that's about it seeing as we're not meant to mention space related stuffs. I cant see any new techological innovations (if I could, I wouldnt be here typing tbh, I'd be out inventing stuff and making a fortune being on the forefront of new technology)
Outside of technology, I see the acknowledgement of Global warming by everyone on the planet, possibly a big oil war in the middle-east, and the possible partial censorship of the internet. Oh, and russia falling to pieces...again.

New sources of energy, definitly. We're going to be in big trouble if we continue to use the amount of energy that we're using right now if we don't find some renewable source of energy soon. There's a plan for an internationally funded fusion reactor in the works that will hopefully let us learn more about the process. Other than that, I'm really intrigued by solar energy, inefficient though it may be. I would think that we'll see it getting more efficient in the future, and hopefully have it become a major energy source.
Definitly a lot more will happen that is not on the radar right now, but will be huge when it comes out.
Erm...internet connections will get faster, and maybe cellphones will get better eeception!

Space travel/exploration will become huge, with Mars being the main focus. Also energy will see newer/better developments, and wifi everywhere. VR might get a nudge also if there's a push for it by the populace.
And how can we forget about robits!?! Japan is on the forefront right now with robotics and they have some pretty interesting things working over there.

You say "no space travel please" and then give us 5/10/50 years to work with?
Uummmmmmmmm...SPACE TRAVEL.
What else? Better home automation, but at the same time civil liberties will be thrown in the bog. DRM, Patriot Act, Houston cops wanting to put cameras in your home, wiretapping, copyright infringement suits getting way out of hand, etc etc...I think we're heading toward a very, very bad place. Fifty years? I don't think the US will even be recognizable. I honestly don't. I'm not some big conspiracy theorist, I think those people tend to be bonkers. I just look at the headlines, corporate corruption in goverment and think to myself it's getting to be about time to start looking for new digs. I'd like to have kids someday but don't feel particularly comfortable raising them in this environment.
