Help with a tutorial

I really cannot understand this tutorial. He just explains the actionscript. I'm not a flash genie, so I don't know where to put this code. I tried putting it in the main flash layer, but that doesn't work. I was hoping someone could give me a little hint. Thanks a lot.

hey i took a quick glance at it and its kinda confusing your right. one thing i did notice with your code how ever is the beggining it should be

this.y = y not
this.y = u

also you needed to apply a linkige to your firefly and give it the name of fly. theres still something else that i couldnt figure out. if i have more time ill take a look at it a little later. hope that helps a little for now.

Spot, he named everything "this", and thats what is confusing me, I really don't want to sounds lazy, which I'm not, but if you could go through and change it up so it works, I would appreciate that more than anything. Then I could see how it was, what I did, and how it's supposed to be. Thanks for your reply spot.

ok, ill take a look at it in about 30 and try to figure it out! once ive figured it out ill fix it up and explain it! talk to you soon mate!

Ok it was a simple solution its done in actionscript 1.0 so i just changed the settings to 1.0 and the player is 6.0. Also i had to change the "this.y=u to this.y=y" and i added a linkage identifier on the "fly MC"
