Christmas Gifts!

List and discuss!

I'll begin:
Books, including

A collection of Poe stories, called The Comple Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe. It has the ugliest cover ever. :P

A collection of Ray Bradbury's short stories, called The Vintage Ray Bradbury

A collection of Emily Dickinson's poems, called The Collected Poems of Emily Dickinson --- this version was published by Barnes and Noble and was heavily edited. The dashes that make her poetry so different almost don't exist in this book, but I think that's where the editing ends.

Four and Twenty Blackbirds by Cherie Priest --- It was okay, though a bit supernatural sometimes. But I enjoyed the story and her writing (which is kind of distict). Either way, I like having it on my bookshelf because the cover art is so pretty.

Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk (who wrote Fight Club) --- I'm in the process of reading this one. I love the cover art on it as well. It's awesome so far. I recommend it, as Rick (freak) recommended it to me.

Invisible Monsters by "

The Exorcist by William Petter Blatty (which was made into the popular horror movie)

Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke

PostSecret by Frank Warren --- you're probably already familiar with the site, but if you buy the book, a portion of your money spent will be donated to the National Hopeline Network, who put on 1-800-SUICIDE.

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee --- Harper Lee is an awesome name (random thought). Atticus Finch is even cooler! :)

1984 by George Orwell

His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman (The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, The Amber Spyglass)

Angels & Demons by Dan Brown --- he wrote The Da Vinci Code, which I haven't read. This is a prequel, I think. Rick recommended this to me too, so it's probably worth reading! :P

The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger

Dracula by Bram Stoker --- The original!

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon --- This is supposed to be a really good book about an autistic boy who investigates a neighborhood dog's death.

Also, I got

A chain & bracelet --- Silver, I don't like gold.

A watch to replace a broken one

Clothes, as always

Mario Kart DS --- vroom! This game is fun.

An electric razor --- I always thought these things were superfluous, but it's pretty cool.

Other stuff that I can't recall but am thankful for anywho. :)

My christmas/chanukah gifts:

From my sister Rachel and her husband: a sterling silver necklace and a teddy bear from the Hard Rock Cafe, both brought back from their honeymoon in Italy this August.

From my mom: Leo!

Best Chrismahanukah ever.

Exellent book. After reading I suggest taking a gander at the movie, aswell (which was ironically filmed in 1984, as the book was written in 1948). If your a George Orwell fan, I also recommend Animal Farm.

----

What I got:

Ummm... the only thing worth telling is I got a video iPod.
Other than that, 3 sweatshirts (they really went overboard), 2006 Guiness World Records (I get one every year, good stuff), and other junk.

Nothin' special.

Read Animal Farm for school. Well, just part of it. I want to finish it, though, because the book was hilarious.

I wish I would have waited for my iPod now---for the iPod Video, that is.

Well most of my stuff is boring and wasn't truly gifts, but because we moved into the new house me and the lady have new Matching Front Load Washer and Dryer (with Pedastal) and a new Stainless Steel French Door bottom Freezer Refridgerator fully loaded... that took most of the Christmas money for ourselves (roughly $3,500 right there). I still got her and her friend both Radio style Microphones and a nice mixer board for podcasting. While I got a nice 5.0 Megapixel Camera (one that I can just carry with me everywhere rather then bring the big boy Nikon D70 out).

I also got a shirt and some Craftsman tools as well as a bunch of grown up stuff like a bagel toaster, Blender, and George Forman Grill.

So pretty boring from my typical Technology laden gifts, but this year is with owning a house things worked out pretty well.

The main things were;

Cash towards the welding on my car (£600 in total, i now have £500, not all of it christmas).
and a load of books, including Ajax in Action, XML for the www, Javascript for the www, PHP & MySQL, and the Css pocket reference.

I seem to learn better through books so these will be really helpful Grin

I don't celebrate Christmas. However, an Aunt gave me a card with $40 and my mum's roommate got me a jacket.
