the problem is that Toach posted 9 days ago? He has been going under the credo "Don't update until there is something significant to update". You guys have to remember the mistakes of the past are mistakes of the past. We can't go back and fix what has happened in the past. Maybe NS was released too early, but the fact of the matter is it WAS released and now we have to deal with it.

Shawn was working with faulty information when he would give updates. He would be told by certain developers that this would be completed at this time, and then it wasn't due to some reason or another. So the updates he gave were based off of information that wound up being worse than something you would get from the US Government.

Please remember this is practically a brand new staff and Big Toach as the lead developer WILL get things done. He has already rolled out some minor things here and there and they are working on the bigger stuff as we speak. However he took it over close to Thanksgiving and has been working through the holiday season (which finding the free time to do so is not an easy task).

My only plea to the community is to give the new staff some time to prove or disporve themselves. Again, I myself will not give a single update on what is going on behind the scenes because I am not directly involved with the development and feel that they should be the ones to update when they feel they are at a point to update.

Just give the new staff a chance. I know the trust between staff and member has been hurt in the past, but I think you will find they are trying to rebuild that trust.

lol Krustie, you're so weird. If every other community is "bigger and better" that uses vB, why don't you go there instead of posting 30 threads a day here?

Not to be a dick, but we tried reinstalling the software, but guess what genius? It didn't fix anything, TF would STILL timeout.

I believe NS was launched early, and the reasons for that I have explained before and I accept responsibility for (and have since resigned). The team working on things now will work to get things fixed.

Also, for the last time... TF had a lot of hacks from the mod community and had ran vB since it's early vB2 days. The mods and all of the ripping into the core code back then really screwed the upgrade paths and made it even though we reinstalled the entire software at some point, still caused issues. trust me, it bugged everyone.

So instead of renewing another year with Jelsoft to maybe see if we can download vB3 Beta, and then just 'convert' the DB to try and make sure we get it into vB3, Jeremie informed me that he 'would have the forums ready'. So Christmas Eve, we closed the doors and relaunched with the "2 years behind schedule" Neverside.

Anyways, you can continue complaining all you want, it's almost comical anymore as I've gone over this many times. Bullshitting you would be a horrid waste of my time, and quite honestly I find it an insult considering I worked on the server and with the code daily.

Anywho, move on and get over it.

P.S. If Scott set the timeout higher in the config.php to what TF's was, which was like 45min. I guarantee you it would show we had 90-140 members online similar to how TF was. It's set to 5min right now Wink

imo, 5 minutes is too short. That's expecting users to move around quite often. I think 15 minutes would be a little more precise without being too long.

Pretty soon (weeks, not months), you guys will start to see some big changes around here. As a member of the design team, I can tell you firsthand that we have some pretty cool things for you guys just around the corner.

I really wish I could give an exact date, and tell you all everything I know about what we are working on, but we really want to avoid making any false promises about what and when, so we are just trying to keep everything mostly under wraps.

What I can tell you, though is that I have spent probably 30 hours in the past week working on finishing up the new design, and coding up an xhtml/css template for it (which, by the way, is semantic, strict and 100% tableless). There are going to be two color themes, one is blue, the other is dark grey, and they are both quite sexy if I may say so myself. I'm positive you will like it more that the current design.
