Linking/Embedding Other SWFs

I've got a Flash file nav.swf, containing a few buttons. I'd like to import this into another Flash, but when I do, I lose the button functionality, and it's imported as a bitmap. Can I somehow get it to load in from that file and still retain it's button functionality? Even better, any way to cache this nav.swf so the user doesn't have to load it 20 times? :) Getting greedy, I know. Thanks.

Cant copy and paste it into the other Flash? It'll bring over the bitmaps, button instances, and actions on the button to the library of the new Flash.

As for Caching, cant set a <meta> tag to do that? Or am I mistaken?

instead of importing it into the other fla, load it into a empty movieclip.
