Your Fav. Recently Discovered Band
So this doesn't belong in Showroom -> Creative Arts & Literature. I'm not showing off something I made. Okay? Settled before that begins.
So, I recently got into a few different bands that I'd never heard of before. I'm going to play posterboy for Neutral Milk Hotel. Lovely sound; I'm a sucker for acoustic. Nice indie band with creative lyrics despite the failure of the vocalist (Jeff Magnum) to hold a note for more than two seconds. What's better.. the albums, from the original three private tape releases to the two CD and vinyl released LPs, just keep getting sweeter.
So, what's your favorite "new" band? And why?

I'll check them out - acoustic bands are always interesting to listen to.
I wish I could recommend something new and awesome, but unfortunately I've lost interest in new music seeing as it often disappoints me. Hopefully you'll have changed my opinion eh?

The Arcade Fire (!!!): The lyrics are great, touching on subjects that a lot of bands avoid, and the sound is awesome too--almost all the songs have an orgasmic crescendo. It's some of the most original stuff I've heard in a long time.

Heh, I checked out your blog and noticed you had GY!BE. Love them too, but I didn't put em here since I've been listening to them for a while. For anyone that doesn't know, Godspeed You! Black Emperor is a band from Montreal doing very broad, lots of slow violin, orchestral post rock. Beautiful stuff but not for short attention span ADHD pop fans. Most songs are over 20 min. If you want to hear the apocalpyse in musical form, check out their album Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven.

If you're into post rock, get some Sigur Rós. They rock. I just started listening to them recently... I only have one album though (Takk...).
I like post rock, but I listen to it in moderation for some reason.
Gogo Iceland.
More of my recent obsessions:
Broken Social Scene, Metric, Feist--all of which I discovered thanks to Jamie's indie-craziness. Leslie Feist has one of the sexiest voices ever, and Emily Haines from Metric has a nice one too. Broken Social Scene is an indie supergroup of those two band and more... Stars is sexy, too.
