Hey what's up every one? I used to have an account way back at TutorialForums.com but I just singed up here. Anyway, since I'm going to college I want to use my website to keep in touch with people (especially my friends staying behind). I currently have a Live Journal (ya ya laugh about it :-)) but I'm not sure if I should try to integrate it into my site (I would probably have to get a paid account - $25) or if I should just use something like wordpress. I have set up a test site using wordpress but it seems difficult to make a theme. I'm not sure which route to go because alot of my friends have live journals and update them frequently (while others never do). What do you guys think? Thanks in advance!

Also this is my first time using this username (any where) - what do you guys think? Lame?

If you want to integrate it with your site, I would not recommend using Live Journal. Wordpress is great, and I know there are plenty of people around here that would be willing to help you make your own theme. Also, if you went with Wordpress you wouldn't have to stop using Live Journal. I keep a Xanga just for my friends, I'm sure you could do the same.

Good luck.

Wordpress or Textpattern are the big two.

Also, your old TF username will still work here on NS (unless you had no posts and hadn't logged in for a while, in which case it may have been deleted...)

Thank you! Where could I go to get help on the theme design? I'm just having trouble finding out what I need to put in the theme. Once I know that (like this goes here so people can post comments, etc) then I could get started. Thanks again!

Check out Ryan Grove's Poseidon (wonko.com), it's what I use, very easy to customize and integrate.

Google for "wordpress themes", you'll get tons of results of premade, free themes for Wordpress. There are some fan-freaking-tastic ones available, which you could just edit and modify to your liking. And I agree, it used to be much simpler to create a theme for WP, it got harder in the newer version.

Thanks every one! I found a theme and modified it (not much even) and it looks great. BTW Rad, nice icon and sig (I really should get firefox, but I have it on my mac so yahhh). I should hang around here more. Seems like a cool place!
