Centering images

Hi,

im just messing around making a simple wallpaper sized 1024x768 which has a small image and some text below it..

so i was wondering, is there a way i can make the small image and text centered on ps7 other then dragging it to the middle of the wallpaper and hope it's really in the center of the wallpaper ?

thx

Im self taught so there may be an easier way. Make sure the rulers are enabled in the view menu. select (with square select tool, or select all) an object that fills the entire screen (or create a new layer and fill it in with the paint bucket tool). Take the move tool and choose that selection. make sure "show bouding box" is checked. you'll notice a square in the middle of the selection at the top and bottom (and sides, and corners). This is the center of the document. grab the ruler and drag a guide to this point. now you can line up your objects on the guide.

1. Select all (CTRL + A) with Rectangular Marquee Tool
2. Use Move Tool (V) and mess with the align buttons up at top.

no no no, what you gotta do is press ctrl + a. then click on the image or text layer in the layer pallet window. then click in layer - align to selection - vertical centers. then layer - align to selection - horizontical centers.

OR (since there is always more than one way to do something...)

Enable Guides in the Photoshop preferences, and set the spacing to 50%
This will give you perfectly centered horizontal/vertical lines.
