Contest Suggestions
I am working on the contests section for Neverside 1.5.
Looking for any suggestions you resident Neversidians have. All ideas are welcome, and I am open to trying anything.
Hopefully I'll have some screenshots for you people in a couple weeks.

Are there going to be any large scale contests?

Glad you're on the staff, Kick. Hopefully we'll still have time to finish our project before 2006! Photo manipulation contests would be fun.

Depends on what you mean by large scale.
For the most part that depends on the users' willingness to submit entries. I will gartuntee certain contests will be far more popular than others. That just naturally happens.

If you mean ones from us, you'll just have to see. The contest area is the old forums reborn with a new luster that improves submitting entries, managing contests and determining winners. It also makes it easier for us to manage contests, get the information we need... you know the boring stuff.

I suggest we have 2-3 different contest areas, user, studio, and others
user - people who are members on NS that have a service they need provided enter their requests to submit a contest here
studio - look at CGTalk.com for examples on this. e.g - 3D animation, 2D environments(architectural & fantasy), programming(new PHP programs, software(rss, widgets), etc.)
others - people from different forums that we are "affiliate" to, who want to host a contest here along with other sites.

...You're really missing the point of this area, so I'm not even going to respond to this. This contest system applies to anyone who wishes to hold a contest in any area of design, development, music and so forth. Everything offsite applies the same but excludes the use of sweepstakes, the freeeverythingandmymother.com sites, etc.

From what Kickboy stated, it sounded like he wanted ideas on what to ahve in the contest area. I thought those ideas I said were pretty solid. maybe defining what kind of suggestions he's looking for would work. If he's looking for design ideas, then he should have said so. If he wants a way of setting up and approving contests, he should have said so. If he wnats areas that can be included in the contest area, he should have said so.
I think we need more details in what he's looking for.

Alright then, your ideas are poor at best, don't be a smartass. I'll be more specific for Kickboy.
We are looking for suggestions on how to design the overall process to make it easy for everyone to participate and hold a contest while minimizing the fraud aspect associated with member contests.
Some of the things are, your individual entries can be seen, and comments on each Entry can be seen(kind of like the studio). There will also be general commenting on each contest. It makes it easier to browse the entries, and get feedback on how the contest is going.
Kidd is no longer allowed to make suggestions until he contacts me via e-mail locke@neverside.com about his posting habits.

Anyway...
To expand on what Locke said, I am looking for mostly feature suggestions or ideas on how the submission process should be done. Neverside's first intent is to be unique, and that's what I want out of this contest system. Not something that's the same as in every other community, something new, something unique. Looking for ways to make it that way.
