No person or society has the right to set limitations on the sexual standards or the frequency of sexual activity of another.

In saying that, if homosexual marriage is made legal, does that mean other minorities that have different sexual choices will have marriage legalized for them?

Coriakin;
There are many things that can contribute to this.
http://kidshealth.org/parent/system/ill/birth_defects.html
explains the majority of it quite well.

Those two books by C.S. Lewis are a good read so pick them up when you can.
No need to apoligise, we all interpret things differently.

How do you mean 'do you think it should concern Religions in general, or specificly Christianity?' Homosexuality?
No! No religion should play any role in it. People are going to do whatever they choose whether religion, laws or anything else tells them otherwise. And they dont have to get married. The couple can just have a lawyer write up legal wills that cant be contended.
Just a note: homosexuality is not a western only thing, has some people have recently stated on the news, its international.
Religions should only play a role in guiding people in a proper moral & ethical direction. However what morals and ethics can be the iffy part since one religion says you can do this while another says you cant. It's best to read all, gather what your heart and mind feels is correct and go with it. As long as you can go to bed every night with a clear conscience, nothing nagging you in the back of your mind, then you can sleep well and wake up feeling great.
The Bible has some excellent writtings, The Book of Solomon, Ecclesiastes, for two, so dont get me wrong, I dont dislike any religion. I have a lot of friends who are from every denomination. Several ordanained ministers I deal with on a daily bases, two of which are very close friends.

As for the gender of GOD, which many have labeled HE, I have provided this link on the subject http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_and_gender

As for starting a new thread...on what...religion?...it's one of those topics like politics, everybody has their own view and it can cause lots of friction.
Now if you want to talk about books..well thats another matter....lol

Anyhow, that mini-camp sounds like fun, I hope you are participating... and get some sleep.
It's like milk...it does the body good. And dont fret over responding. There's really no need.

Have a great week & weekend & take good care.

April

If it can't be repeated, don't say it.

that's an excellent point Pingu! but that has nothing to do with the topic...lol
But think about it for a moment, there are males and females. If males marry males, or females marry females, and of course males and females marry, is there another gender to be marrying? It's not like 'this sexual practise marries that sexual practise' now is it?
Now if you were to say this female wants to marry that horse, or that male wants to marry that sheep, well now that's a different story all together isn't it...lol

I didn't introduce the idea of other genders, I meant people with fetishes and such...

You mean, like people who are attracted to animals?

Animals and inanimate objects, yes.

well, considering that consent is needed for a marriage to be legal (or so I've been led to believe, someone correct me if I'm wrong), animals and inanimate objects would not be consenting to marriage now would they?

Not to mention the fact that humans marrying humans is still staying in the same species.

And before you bring up incest or marrying children, we already know the reasons why this is illegal, which is completely different than homosexual marrying.

actually i was trying to say that the existance of God can and has been proven by logic. and vice versa.

as for god not liking people being gay, and god not liking people who are gay, my mistake, i thought the two were exhangable, but i understand now that they are not.

however the rest of my point still stands, it seems that people are against gay marriage because of God's wrath, which i think is overlooking his good intent.

Quote:

However I will say that if it is fear of god not liking what gays do that pits you against gay-marriage, do you not think you should reconsider. God does not wish to instill fear, rather quite the opposite he wishes hapiness upon us all. God is also accepting and will no doubt reward acceptance of our fellow men. I would say that it is rather something else, another force that wishes to instill fear and divide us amongst ourselves. We should be careful that we do not mistake for Gods word what is not really his.

italics are corrections, God loves gays.

Tolerance can, and will, go too far. I will not accept homosexuality as normal. The needs of Christians (and people of many other religions) far outweigh those of the homosexuals and their advocates. Face it, there are far more people who find homosexuality morrally corrupt than there are people doing their damndest to legalize gay marriage. Like it or not, this country was founded on primarily Christian views and ideals. So, are you all saying that what homosexuals (who are far fewer in number) want is more important than what all of the religious people want? Are you saying we should just go ahead and back down and fundamentally change our views to accept a society that encourages homosexuality? I'm saying, "no way, assholes." Go found your own country and have all the gay action you want, just don't try forcing your trash on everyone else. Seriously, we need to draw a line somewhere.

And, if you want to ask me why I find homosexuality to be disgusting and just wrong, let me ask you this first: why don't you? Quit trying to jam your views of universal tolerance down everyone's throat. If God doesn't tolerate everything, why should I or any other Christian (or follower of any other religion with similar views concerning homosexuality)? The Greeks celebrated homosexuality in their ancient empire, and look what happened to them. They enjoyed anal sex with young boys, you know. Why don't homosexuals just go found another Greek empire? I mean, this is just absurd.

Oh my god this is stupid.

First, you do not need to like homosexuality. I feel repulsed by it.
However, I know a couple of gays and I respect their human rights. It was the same with blacks or jews or whatever throughout history. Fundamentalists declare something wrong and start attacking.
So gays are the minority? It doesn't matter. Nazis were a majority in their country. Were they right?

On what ideals this country was founded on is not proven and irrelevant. What is important is the constitution. If the country was meant to be Christian, it would be in the constitution. It is not... why? Because America has to be able to adapt.
If morals were written down to restrict rights in the constitution, there would be a paragraph about blacks as well as homosexuals.

A marriage is between two people, therefore those two have to decide if they are going to marry. You, as a third, have no right to deny that, especially based on your own crazy morals.

Why should you tolerate?
Because we tolerate you!
If I see you claiming your right of free speech and, in the same context, try to deny homosexuals their equality as in "normal beeing" even if you never have to talk to one in your whole life if you don't want to I would seriously like to deny you a couple of human rights because you are not conform with the philosophy of my God, the flying hippo, because it states clearly in my bible, the hippo bible, that Christians are not to be liked.

Before the circljerking starts: I am not primarily talking about marriage as a right, I mean the human honor which is greatly attacked by opinions such as Popos. Basicly he condemns a certain group of people because of a feature that doesn't have to concern him nor does it change the appearance or quality of the human.

I will go as far and say Popo could have a gay as best friend and never notice.
If he was purely against the action, which I cannot believe because of his absolute morals, I apologize, then my post can be ignored.
