There are five books to the trilogy.

1.) Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
2.) The Restaurant at the End of the Universe
3.) Life, The Universe and Everything
4.) So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish
5.) Mostly Harmless

Plus, there is the Ultimate Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy book that has the above in them as well as Young Zaphod.

If there are 5 books... how is it a trilogy?

Hey, don't ask me. That's how Douglas Adams did it. When he died he was almost done working on a 6th and final book.

By the way, I have read almost every John Grisham book there is. I really need to buy them to have in my collection.
