When you get Shawn's box, I think you should make more of these. Then, make a super one. Then, move it to your old box. THEN, open it up and watch your computer explode!

Honestly, these look awesome. Oh, and lethaldose, this does take talent AND skill. No one could just sit down and make one of these without first honing their talents first. Clearly he put a lot of time into these, and learning how to do it properly.

Drix: I don't want to argue, it's just that monotonous creation of vertices and edges, and moving them to fit a reference picture is routine, not talent. A skill that might be difficult, and he is a good 3d modeller for having that skill, but not talent. I would say he is truly talented, if he would take the car, and make a scene with a city, trees, buildings. Or let's say modelled something and just finished the whole scene/animation. Truly talent is those who pioneer something like cgtalk.com people do. Skill are those who repeat what was done.

No offence intended. Good job never the less.

You realize David is only 14 I'm sure, so I'm not going to argue that point. Most of CGTalk is just amazingly impressive, but it's years of experimenting and practice. Talent is not defined by what you've accomplished, it's defined by your aptitude for learning and experimentation. Talent is never in the result, it's in the progress to the result.

nice explanantion locke ..

talent and skill are commonly referred to as aquired qualities, and that is incorrect. talent, as defined by dictionary.com, as a marked innate ability, as for artistic accomplishment. skill is defined as a proficiency, facility, or dexterity that is acquired or developed through training or experience.

in response to drix, nothing is new. it is discovered. although this may seem as mere experimentation, it doesn't nullify the existence of talent. pioneering a movement is not talent, it is ingenuity and creativity, of which are examples of talent, not the embodiment. if we assume your hypothesis is correct, then all of the great renaissance masters were merely experimenting with paint and stone in an attempt to duplicate what is already there. therefore, they were not talented, only skilled.
