- - Agreed, In america it is profittable for politicians to claim that they belong to the church. One must practice discernment in this area for many say one thing and do another, true christians have their love in Christ and it is very evident when someone claims to be a chirstian but doesn't love or live for Christ. I encourage you Toast to practice discernment in these areas, for we all know that (sadly) many things that come from a politicians mouth are misleading.

Celldss, you just said Catholics are not Christians. Catholics probably would say that you aren't a Christian. By this token, basically nobody on earth is a true Christian.
We don't personally know any politicians. George Bush could secretly worship satan for all we know. It really isn't up to us to judge who is and who is not a Christian.

Why do you not read my posts?
"many of those people (the Catholics in particular) were not Christian"

I apologize. Apparantly you didn't catch my drift. For EVERY Christian, there is at least one person on the planet that thinks he/she is not a "true Christian". By your explanation, every Christian would need to be unanimously accepted as a Christian, or they are a fake. Therefore, nobody is a "true Christian".

I'm sure there there are "true Christians". We all have ideas as to what we may or may not believe what a true Christian is. Just read the bible, you will get an idea of who is or who isn't a true Christian. Only time will tell though.

Lee, being a Christian isn't about acceptance of peers (we only need acceptance in the form of salvatin from Jesus who rose from the dead), a true Christian is one who loves Christ. The evidence of our love is our following of his commandments ("If you love me you will keep my commandments" John 14:15 ).

You don't seem to understand. It does not matter one bit what I think about other people concerning their faith, it only matters what the Bible says. Period. Jesus said that we (meaning other disciples) will know his followers by their fruit. That fruit is the fruit of the Spirit (see Galatians 5). If someone is not manifesting the fruit of the Spirit in their life, then they are not a Christian. This is not rocket science, and it doesn't "all come down to interpretation". That is what the Bible says. If you are a Christian, then you believe the Bible - right?
