hey C4D geniuses, i need help!

(please check out the pics)
hey out there, im makin a music video in my cad class at school. its car chase through a desert.
im at the point where the police car gets knocked off the road into the dirt and i made dust to come off the wheels using pyroclusters and emitters.

i made the dust in a separate file-just the car and the dust. and it looks fine.

but once i droped the car with the dust into the main file to render out a scene, the dust turned pure white. i found out the lights are messing up the pyroclusters.

i have gone through all the options in the material editor to try to tone the material down from absorbing the light, or what ever its doing, but im getting know where and makin things worse :-/. is there anybody out there who knows how to fix this?
