i want to create a site, like the one i placed in my attachement.

Any tips and/or tricks on that?

hmmm... well in my opinion..
First get a decent color sheme

You can use that to get some ideas.

Second learn how to make round curved boxes..

Third, Get acustomed with paths..

I'd use a combination of :

1) For the Graphics:- Photoshop , Illustrator, and the graphic tools already in flash.

2) HTML Authoring :- Dreamweaver or Golive.
