CuzYooSuk v2

Please, no comments on the name as I suck at making them. Hah.

Anyway, the site is http://www.cuzyoosuk.com , and we've just switched to v2, after growing bored of the former design.

For my level of 'expertise' (if you can even call it that), im very proud with the coding. This is the first site i've made that:

a) Actually stretches down the page without screwing up;
b) Has php includes to bring in the header, footer and 5 latest images from the 4images gallery;
c) Actually HAS the 5 latest images from the 4images gallery.

Usually I use iFrames, but i've grown to dislike them in the past few months.

Anyway yeah.. Over to you guys.

Constructive criticism please. Smile

Pretty good, its a very open and airy theme. Might want to make the nav a little bit more noticable. And also, the 404 page is still in the previous style.

Yeah, I noticed about the 404.. same with all the errors. I'm in the process of fixing them at the moment.

Any suggestions how to make the nav more noticable? Smile

As said, the Nav's invisible (well, sort of :P)

Why did you Right-align the headers? - It's impractical
Your forums are ugly - Simply because the Avatars are on top (???) Which takes up way too much room...

Stick to the proven methods, most of the time there better...

Er.. The avatars being on top is vBulletin default, and many many people are using them nowadays, successfully.

If everyone stuck to proven methods, no one would advance.

'Why make the light bulb, the candle works?' kinda thing.

It's more like "Let's make square light bulbs, the round ones are old." Having the avatar at the top has a few usability issues with it. The large user info makes the layout confusing and hard navigate. Also, the extra space from the avatar removed just increases line width, making it harder to read. The vBulletin layout is very bloated, and from a usability standpoint is a disaster. Don't base your decisions off of vBB.

You may be advancing, but you're advancing in the wrong direction.

lmao rad

anyways, for the nav: maybe make the text a) bigger or b) inside a inline unordered list, kind of like on spoono. they're popular, easy to use, and fun to play with :-D

I dont mind constructive criticism, Radley, but:

Is completely uncalled for, and isn't backed up in any way shape or form.

Firstly, you havent seen my past layouts, so how I'm advancing compared to what I used to do - you don't know.

Secondly, vBulletin's design of the postbit, is growing more and more popular, and more and more sites are keeping it like that, because they like it.

Site's I make are to appeal to the common eye, rather than every designer who comes to pick faults with it. Yes, i put it here for you to review, and yes, i really appreciate the comments you're all giving me, its the reason I put it here. But if the common people and members here like the postbit they've been given compared to the old one, then i'm not changing it.

For example, quoting some members at the forums:

Quote:

i dont like the posts set out the way they are, i much prefere it with the avatar and that at the top.

^That is about a blue skin we have, where the postbit has been modified, and the skin has returned to the postbit_legacy template, rather than the one with the user info at the top.

Quote:

Now it's slowly becoming the norm, having it at top

Because more people are liking the top version.

They're just examples of what I've been told about the postbit. I did do some research into which version people prefer before putting the postbit I have now onto the site.

Thanks for the comments, but I'd appreciate no one to tell me where im advancing, especially when/if they haven't seen my previous templates.

Thanks. Smile

EDIT: Oh, and thanks for the spoono-like suggestion about the nav. I might just take a look at improving the navigation that way. Smile

EDIT2: http://www.cuzyoosuk.com/ ? <--- the nav's changed. Is it less invisible now?
