Illustrator business card/s w/crop marks?

Hello Everyone!

I need some help with this:

I have the graphic for a business card designed in PS and now I need to create a PDF version to send to the print with crop marks.

I can do this but what I would like is to easily duplicate the card 10 times on one page and have crop marks for each card. Is this possoble and how should I go about it?

I look forward to your advice!

you can't do that easily with ps or illustrator .... publishing software like quark xpress or indesign are used for that sort of thing. of course, you could create it manually in illustrator but takes a while and you have to make sure your measurements are correct.

I'm note sure... of course, you have to group the whole card, including the crop marks, as one item. Then there's a transformation that lets you manually displace everything, i forgot how to do it but if it works then you can press ctrl+D to repeat.
I really recommend using snap to grid or something, to make sure the coordinates are correct.

What i always do in Quark is place a white square behind the object that's 3 mm wider on each side. So when you have a 55 x 85 mm business card, the square is 61 x 91 mm. That way you get a nice gap between the card and the crop marks.

Make sure you set the color of the crop marks to "registration" if you're using more than one color, so they show up on every plate.

If youre using Illustrator CS:

Do a "Save As" as a PDF.

In the save dialog box, on the left you'll see a "Marks & Bleeds" section. Click that, the just be sure "Trim Marks" is checked.

slappy, all you have to do is copy one and paste multiple .... put in the correct measurments and quark places the duplicates where they need to go. from a printing perspective, i would try and get away from using the white square for spacing.
