Creating Perfect Spiral Logo - Need Help!

I am havig a tought time making this shape in illustrator. I know this is the way to do it, but I haven't used it much. I want to make it flat and then do the 3d effect.

Any suggestions are apprectiated.

Draw the shape from the 'top-down' kind of view using the pen tool, then, in Illustrator CS (this feature is not in previous versions of Illustrator) , select the path (it should have a fill colour) and play around with the settings under Effect -> 3D -> Extrude & Bevel...

I had to find out myself if it is as easy a Scryypy suggested. It is. I just used the coil tool, 5 points, duped it, resized, joined the paths and added the arrow head. Extrude.Came out pretty good.

This is a 5 minute job,I'm sure a little more work will pay off with a better result. Good call Scryypy.

Its very hard to get it exactly right using the pen tool...i will try, but i did last night for about 3 hours. The curves never seem right.
