Illustrator Photoshop Conversion Prob

i have to take a photo in photoshop and take out the background so i just have the image and then bring it into illustrator. but when its in illustrator there appears to be no backgroud behind the image but when i save it as a pdf i get white boxes behind the images.

How can I fix this problem?

Why are you even taking it to Illustrator? Just save as PDF from Photoshop.

the reason for illustrator is because that is where i designed the poster because photoshop is strictly for doing work on images.

i used the quick mask and selected the part of the image i want and then once it was selected..i selected the inverse so i had the image without background.

to clarify things even further i am using illustrator 9 and photoshop 6

i need help please

Could you post a screenshot of your problem, please? I can't get what are the white boxes you are talking about in your pdf file.

Add a Clipping Path to the area you need to protect, and this should allow for transparencies in other dtp applications.

Heres a walkthrough for you.
