How to add Brushes?

I put a bunch of them (.ai files) in Illustrator > Presets > Brushes and they dont show up...:confused:

Where do they go?

Also, when I draw a new line near an old line, the old line dissapears. How do I stop this?

To view the brushes go to Window - Brush Libraries and either choose one of the available libraries (the ones that are in the Presets folder) or load the file from another location.
These brushes will load in a new brush window on your current document.

I'm not sure about the line problem.
Could you provide a screenshot of the lines you are trying to create?
Did you turn off the fill color?

For the line problem, double click the brush (or pencil tool) and uncheck "Edit Selected Path" and "Keep Selected"
