making a reflective surface in 3dsmax
Ok, so Adobe4dummies helped me out with the interface modeling, thanks bud.
But now I want to add reflections and lighting to it. Can someone help me out with this....How do I get like a picture above the model, and have the model reflect the picture?
does this make sense?
thanks in advanced

..just incase someone is going to tell me this, I understand i can set the material to raytrace, then add a reflection bitmap, but that's not what im talking about, it doesn't look natural that way and creates lots of jaggies.

Well, there are a few options you can use (aside from the one you mentioned).
1) Model whatever it is you want to reflect
2) Make a plane and make a material of the picture you want it to reflect and apply the material to the plane. And then just set up the plane relative to the reflective material in such a way that it looks how you want it.

Uh, you shouldnt put bitmap into the reflection slot, heres a basic tutorial to help you with the material.
As for the relfections, how did you do with the HDRI tutorial I gave you? Just putting a plain picture ontop of the interface for reflections is not a good idea.

Actually the plain would work out much nicer than just hdri, or almost the same, if u do it right...
but hdri and gi is the quick and dirty way.
