3d Studio Max small help..

hey. i might be posting a few questions in this thread later on, but i was wondering if this one could be answered now. i made a little model, sort of just messing around, loosely based on a thruster for an engine. i was wondering if you guys might be able to help me make it a bit smoother. i applied Mesh Smooth (2 iterations i believe), and it's got this ugly ripple effect.. a picture is attached, and any help would be greatly appreciated. all i need is for it to be smooth. it's 3d Studio Max 4.

That is usually cause by:

-Polygons that have more or less than 4 edges
-Poles or in other words vertices that have more than 5 edges connected to them
