3ds max materials

I just bought a copy of 3ds max from a friend of mine who doesn't want it anymore, and I tried getting help from Discreet, but they were most unhelpful since I didn't buy it from them. I opened up 3ds max and followed a tutorial on bluesfear, opened up the material editor only to find that I had only a fraction of the mats he had on his screenshot. I've got like, two usable, and they're totally lame. It seems like something's wrong. What's the deal? Do I have to buy them, or are they supposed to come with 3ds max? I'm a photoshop freak, but when it comes to 3ds I'm a total newb, so any help would be appreciated Smile

you can make materials, or find them on the net.. most warezed versions of programs, don't come with everything. Grin i'd be looking for my money back, if i were you.

but you could always download materials. google it, or something.
