PSP 8 Questions
Howdy, folks. I'm new here and I have a couple of questions in regards to PSP 8.
First of all, has the quality of saved images been improved at all? As I recall, the quality of saved .jpg and such was very, very shoddy once published on the web, regardless of the host.
Second, if you have a very good knowledge of PSP 7, how easy is it to learn and get used to the new layout for PSP 8? Are a lot of the functions the same? What has been removed/added?
Thank you for your time. Any help is very much appreciated.

Hi, welcome to TF
I'm one of the Design Mentors around here and I love PSP.
Regarding your questions:
1. The jpg quality depends on how you save it. In v7 you had to use the jpeg optimizer to get the highest quality - the default setting was always a mess.
I'm not sure how this has changed in v8 but if it still saves it with low quality use the optimizer (same goes for gifs and pngs).
2. I have a copy of PSP8 still waiting to be installed here. When it first came out I downloaded the beta and to be honest I didn't like the interface at all - a mixture of Photoshop and Photo Impact which took the "friendly feel" away (I'm not saying that I don't like those programs, I have to work with Photoshop a lot at college and at my work, but from all 3 PSP had the most user-friendly interface and a very nice default color scheme).
I'm still sticking with v7 although I'm planning on giving v8 a second try, but really, if you don't like Photoshop's or Photo Impact's layout you might not enjoy v8 as much as v7.

Hey, thanks a lot. I was unaware of the optimizer. Wjere can I find this option, exactly?
Also, I have installed the trial of PSP 8, and the interface has certainly changed for the worst. I'll also be sticking with 7.
Again, thanks for the help.

I enjoy webdesign and have a personal site and a Switchfoot fansite.

Hm, I use psp8, I used to use psp7, but can't remember what it looked like. I really like v.8, though it could be my opinion, I don't exactly see a difference between the two versions. Would v.7 be better, do you think? I have been using v.8 for almost a year now.

You can find the optimizer (in v7 at least) under File - Export.
