Loading 3ds max 6

im having a problem trying to open 3ds max....when i first installed it work perfectly then after 5 weeks it freezes when the windows says "loading mental ray plugin", i tried to reinstall it all over again, but i keep getting the same problem....does anyone know what could be?....
