Problem with pen tool, psp 8

I have used PSP 7 for ages to do my art on. I drew my pictures by hand, scanned them into PSP 7, created a new layer over the sketch and went over it with the draw tool to make nice smooth black outlines.

Last night I got PSP 8 and found the draw tool has been replaced by the pen tool. Fair enough. After much fiddling about with it, I have finally got it to do the same smooth black lines I liked in PSP 7. However, theres a problem which I never had in 7.
When I draw a line, it fails to complete itself. It seems to stop short about 10 pixels from where I actually ask it to, which is leaving me with lines that aren't joining up where they should and making for messy line work. I never had this problem in 7. I have the curve tracking set to exactly the same as I used to have it in 7 for the draw tool, I've even messed about with it to see if I can sort this out myself but whatever I do, it's not making me nice precise lines.
I hope I've explained this well enough.
My art is cartoony animals for the most part, though I hate the term cartoon, so smooth unblemished lines are vital. But PSP doesn't seem to do them for me.

Am I missing something really obvious here?

I'm not familiar with v8 but I'm guessing there should be an option called Close Path for the Pen tool just like there was for the Draw tool or something very similar to that.

However, if in v8 Jasc inserted a Pen tool similar to the one in Photoshop what you'll have to do is to place your mouse cursor over the first point until you see some kind of indication on it such as a circle or some text saying that it will close the path and then click on it instead of inserting your last point as you normally would in v7.
