I love your header, really good job, try to keep that feeling.

Change your shoutbox though, the horizontal scrollbar isn't neccesary and the font etc is just awefull. CSS my friend.

the layout is too plain, bland and uninteresting.

It doesn't look too bad but am not too sure about the bg image though

It's a little too unoriginal for my tastes. However, it does look fairly nice. About the splash page, it doesn't work properly, the background does not continue to the bottom of the page in FIrefox, so it looks kinda stupid.
