Modelling question
I am trying to create the corrugated deck of a toy boat which I have so far made with an extruded spline after arraying one section through x.
However when I try to put a hole through the deck with the mid section, the boolean operation is greyed out.
Would you model this a different way, or have you any ideas please?

Do you have a screen shot? What software are you using as well?

It's in max and it's the object on the left.
Thanks.

Not sure how it works in MAX but in lightwave you need both objects selected - so it know what is getting booleaned

You can just make a smalle cube and model the polygons in the way you want. Then your boolean will work
Understand?

Eu4ria Thanks but in max you pick the operand/second item seperately.
Ares I thought about doing that with a box and I will go back to the idea. it seems like it might not be working this way because the extruded splines were not welded together or maybe because the other end of the extrusion is showing no vertices to alter. Thanks again.

The problem why you can't do that with an extruded spline lies in the way C4D looks at the object. If you extrude a spline it will make it 2 flat planes and the border but it won't attach them, you can see this when you make it editable. It will look at the box as an entire object wich you can easlily edit
