what is the best 3d imaging software available as of now.
Im deciding which one to use and would appreciate it if you could tell me which one is the best.

i just wanted to know the opinions of some other people. I noticed that maya was a 1600 dollar program and before buying it i would at least like to know if its the best, well if it is i buy it and if it isnt now thats 1600 down the pooper. right eh?

There have been innumerous questions regarding this matter and they all came to this: depends on what you want to do with the program, how much you want to spend and most of all on your own personal skills.
People in this forum use all sorts of programs, from expensive ones such as 3DSMax (which, as nykoelle mentioned, is the most popular) and Maya to free ones such as Blender.
The best thing for you to do is get a trial of the programs (most of them offer either a trial, a demo or a learning version) and decide for yourself.
